ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH - On Saturday October 1, the annual Andouille pageant with the theme of "Wild, Wild, West" was held at the St. John Theatre in Reserve. Madison King, the 2015 Miss Andouille Queen, crowned Janet Nelson of LaPlace as the 2016 Queen. The 2015 Teen Andouille Queen, Tabitha Tregre relinquished her title to Reserve resident, Kash'Mir Foley.  

The 2016 Miss Andouille Queen is the 19 year old daughter of Stephen and Staci Nelson. She is currently attending Southeastern Louisiana pursuing a degree in Nursing with the goal of one day having a career as a nurse anesthetist. Janet competed against four other young ladies in an interview, on-stage promenade, and on-stage question to capture the title of Miss Andouille.

The 2016 Teen Andouille Queen is the 15 year old daughter of Kiandre Burdell & Floyd Foley Jr. She is currently a sophomore at Riverside Academy where she holds a 4.12 GPA and is in all honors classes.

As Ambassadors for St. John the Baptist Parish, the Queens will represent the parish at a variety of local and state-wide functions, including the St. John Andouille Festival, scheduled for October 14-16. The new Andouille Queens will also visit their U.S. Representatives and Senators, other elected officials and other representatives throughout Louisiana. Additionally, Janet will also represent the Parish at the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals Queen of Queens Pageant held in Baton Rouge in February 2017.

This year's pageant theme was St. John's version of a popular time in American History, the Wild, Wild West with an emphasis on the outlaws of the era and western fashion including cowboy boots, hats, and scarves. The award winning competition team from Aimee's Dance Academy in LaPlace showcased an upbeat jazz routine and Miss Crescent City New Orleans Emily Randon performed a classical ballet number to "Spanish Tango" from the hit movie The Mask of Zorro.

On Sunday, October 2, the Baby through Junior Miss Andouille Pageants were held at the St. John Theatre. Photos will be posted on the St. John Parish website at sjbparish.com. For more information on the 2016 Andouille Festival, visit www.andouillefestival.com.

As Ambassadors for St. John the Baptist Parish, the Queens will represent the parish at a variety of local and state-wide functions, including the St. John Andouille Festival, scheduled for October 14-16. The new Andouille Queens will also visit their U.S. Representatives and Senators, other elected officials and other representatives throughout Louisiana.

Additionally, Madison will travel to Washington D.C. to attend the Washington Mardi Gras Ball and tour historical sites such as Arlington National Cemetery, the United States Capitol, the White House, the Lincoln Memorial and the Washington Monument. She will also represent the Parish at the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals Queen of Queens Pageant held in Baton Rouge in February 2017.

The 2016 St. John Andouille Baby through Junior Miss Pageants will be held on Sunday, October  2, 2016 at the St. John Theatre, 115 West 4th Street, Reserve, LA. The first pageant will start promptly at 10:00am.
